The International Continence Society ICS 2019

Gothenburg will host The International Continence Society ICS conference 2019. The conference attracts over 3000 delegates annually from around the world to a unique interdisciplinary conference on incontinence.

Ian Milsom, professor of gynecology and obstetrics and head of department of our institution, is one of those who fought hard to get the meeting. He will now be chairman of the meeting. This, together with the scientific chairmen Kari Bo, professor of exercise science and physical therapy as well as Rector of the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences , Karl Erik Andersson, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology at the University of Lund and Anders Mattiasson professor emeritus at the department of urology at the University of Lund.

- This feels great. A contributing factor could certainly be that Sweden has a long scientific tradition in continence research and many of our prominent scientists have been involved in the ICS and its important work. We are also a great meeting city, says Ian Milsom.

Participants come from many different disciplines but with a common interest in research on bladder and anorectal functions and dysfunctions.

The meeting in 2019 will be held between September 17 to 20 and consists of a 2-day training program followed by a 3-day scientific program. Abstracts which over the years has been presented at the meeting are published in the Journal of Neurourology & urodynamics (Official Journal ICS).

ICS writes following on their website; "Gothenburg has all the attributes of a big city all contained within a pocket-sized format, making it easy to wander around and enjoy the city. It also has fantastic transport links both nationally and internationally, with 100 direct flight routes offered to and from Göteborg Landvetter Airport. There are over 10,000 centrally located hotel rooms ranging from budget to five star all of which are eco-certified and offer free Wi-Fi. Gothenburg offers an exceptional combination of city life, culture and nature for delegates to enjoy.
